Economically sound fisheries are important for the success of the United States’ seafood industry in providing safe and sustainable products for consumers. But there are concerns that decreased funding to support these fisheries threatens the research, education and outreach needed to keep them going.
Officials at the University of Delaware, in coordination with nearby Sea Grants and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, are putting together a Great Lakes regional seafood workshop to help. It will be held May 9-12, 2016 at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee School of Continuing Education Conference Center.
Organizers plan to cover the latest information on all aspects of seafood from source to table and the related regulatory, nutrition and food safety issues and benefits.
